Executive Directors
Dr. Daiter and Dr. Varenbut are medical doctors committed to the well being and recovery of the chemically dependant person. Dr. Daiter graduated from the University of Western Ontario while Dr. Varenbut completed his medical studies at the University of Toronto. Both completed their Family Practice Residencies at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre in Toronto, Canada. Drs. Daiter and Varenbut have also successfully achieved specialty certification in Addiction Medicine from the American Society of Addiction Medicine, with completion of both ASAM certification examination and the Medical Review Officer components. They are also both certified by the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine and sit on the Board of that same Society. They each are also Board Certified in Sleep Disorders Medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Varenbut is also an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Daiter and Varenbut initially joined their efforts in 1993 with the opening of a Family Practice in Richmond Hill, Canada. Soon afterwards, in 1995, they opened the first methadone maintenance clinic in York Region dedicated to the opiate dependant person. Over the years, they have created the country's largest network of methadone clinics (the Ontario Addiction Treatment Centres) and work together with over 40 other physicians to bring addiction services to over 25 communities throughout Ontario.
